Coffee and Restaurants of Victoria

Victoria is home to so many amazing coffee shops and restaurants so we’ve made a list of our favourite spots in James Bay and Victoria.

Just a five minute walk from the townhouse you’ll find the Breakwater Cafe, a cozy waterfront locale where you can get a great cup of coffee and fresh pastry to start your day.

In the heart of James Bay Village, there is the long-standing local favourite, James Bay Coffee and Books. You can grab a coffee to go or linger to get your tea leaves read and you won’t want to miss one of their lively music nights!

Good Earth Coffeehouse is a relatively new member of the James Bay family but a welcome addition for their incredibly tasty, healthy breakfast and lunch options and delicious coffee. Everything is easily ordered to-go so it’s a great stop to make on your way out for a day of exploring.

The Breakwater Bistro & Bar offers casual eats, an extensive draught beer list, cocktails and a respectable wine list in a stunning setting. It’s the perfect place for a relaxed meal five minutes from home!

Heron Rock Bistro in the heart of James Bay has consistently impressed visitors and locals for their elevated, casual menus. Offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, this is a great spot any time of day.

For a hip, homey breakfast or lunch, head to Floyd’s Diner on Menzies St. You won’t be able to miss it, it’s the only hot pink house in James Bay!

Nourish Kitchen & Cafe offers guests health forward, holistic meals out of a beautiful heritage house on the northwest corner of James Bay.

For a classic seaside treat, Barb’s Fish and Chips on Fisherman’s Wharf is the best spot to get this finger-licking fare.

Some could argue that it’s a tourist trap but when it comes to gourmet tea and delectable treats in a beautiful heritage building, Murchie’s Tea & Coffee is hard to beat.

Union Pacific Coffee Shop is a hip, heritage, warehouse coffee shop one block north of Chinatown. Here you’ll find hearty breakfasts and lunches as well as delicious fresh pastries and of course, excellent coffee.

In the heart of Cook Street Village is Bubby Rose’s Bakery & Cafe is a cozy local favourite for great coffee and in-house made sweet and savoury baked goods.

For a truly local, eclectic culinary experience, The Mint is the place to go. This cozy, underground restaurant is warmly lit and has an incredibly unique food menu, extensive cocktails and a great wine list. The jaw-dropping architecture and ornate interior of both the Bard & Banker and the Irish Times Pub are reason enough to stop in for a bite. Add to that the large roster of live music, delicious food, extensive drinks list and friendly staff, you’ll understand why these two story restaurants are local hotspots. For mouth watering pasta and some of the fluffiest focaccia around, head to Pagliacci’s. This local favourite serves up delicious brunch, lunch and dinner and is known for the towering slices of cheesecake.
